"It's time to put people first."
My name is Ashley Paz, and I am running for District 9 FWISD Board of Trustees because I am invested in my community and our schools. As a mother, I want a safe and happy school for my daughter when she enters kindergarten next year. I am an active member of my community who has seen first hand just how important community involvement is in setting our schools up for success. I have made it my mission to be an advocate for parents and children from all walks of life that they may stand up for the best education available. And as a small business owner, I know quality schools will attract new businesses and potential clients into our area.
I understand the anxiety so many parents feel about placing their children into this system. Fort Worth is a wonderful city. With its vibrant culture, resilient economy, and strong neighborhoods it is a shame that our education system is failing so many students. Every parent should feel confident that they can send their child to their neighborhood school and know that they are going to a positive environment. Our teachers should be able to go into work and know that they have support, and not have to spend their own personal money for class supplies. Children should be able to enjoy their learning experience, and be excited to go to school. The people of FWISD District 9 deserve a trustee who cares about each and every child, and wants nothing except for them to have a bright future.
I understand the challenges a child in public school can face. My parents worked hard just to make the bills each month, and they didn’t have the extra time or money to join the PTA. It was not an option for them just as it may not be for many parents with children who currently attend FWISD schools. Many working parents have to trust that our schools are providing their children with the education and experiences that will allow them to have a better life. All too often we are letting those parents and their children down. If elected to this position I vow to serve our students, parents, teachers, and communities as if they are my own family, and treat my fellow board members with grace and compassion so that we may work together to set our education community up for success. It is time to put people first in the Fort Worth ISD.
